BHAYSHUL TUTEN - RB

Virginia Tech - Senior - 5’11, 209lbs

Pros

  • Body is built perfect for the position: Stocky, thick thighs and glutes, low center-of-gravity

  • Plant and go burst that pops as he changes direction

  • Top speed hits home runs, pulling away from all defenders

  • Jump cuts easily, changing direction in quick leaps

  • Forces bad angles naturally by exploding to open space and defenders are caught

  • Ping-pongs off of bodies in traffic while protecting the ball

  • Can switch to a patient glide behind blockers, especially moving laterally, while he waits for a lane, and then switch back to explosive running

  • High level production despite playing on a less-talented squad

Cons

  • Not big or powerful enough to overpower LOS defenders

  • Takes some strikes because of power mismatch

  • Fumble issues in the past

  • Small injury concerns

Summary

Tuten has become one of my favorite players to watch in this draft class. He can, in a few steps, blow a play wide open and have defenders scrambling to even get near him to bring him down. He’s smaller in size and has the ability to patiently drift behind blockers before exploding out in to space. I encourage everyone to just throw some highlights on and smile. There are some issues of course, and he definitely won’t fit every offensive scheme, especially if he’s asked to just bang straight ahead into the backs of lineman. Let’s hope someone takes full advantage of Tuten and what he’s capable of.
